Village Life in India

I stayed my whole life in Kolkata. I sometimes visited my village but never stayed for too long to live a true village life, after spending a little break of summer in the village I came back to Kolkata.

At the time of Covid me and my whole family come to our village Surajgarh a small town in Rajasthan to stay away from the crowd.

We stayed almost a year here in Surajgarh and for the first time, I experienced the true village life.

All my relatives always lived in the village so I have many cousins here who take me to different places and showed village life .

I notice a lot of different things here like in Kolkata because of the crowd and parking problems many people never bought any vehicle but here in Surajgarh everyone has at least one bike or scooter in their houses.

The houses are also big here because they can build anything on their land but in Kolkata, you have to take too much permission to build anything.

When I first come here I mostly stayed at home because of the covid but after the first wave when things cool down a little I started visiting different parts of town.

Although the town is pretty silent there is no noise like in the city, everyone knows everyone here because of less population. When I was little many people lived here of my age but because of less work opportunities they left. They need city life more than the village life.

In Surajgarh many people here are self-employed and have shops or do farming there are very less people who work 9 to 5 jobs. This may be because there is no big company here.

At that, I was also unemployed so I also started a shoe store here but after the 2nd wave I bear too much loss so I had to close the shop.

After that, we build our own house here.

I also help my mother’s sister in farming I helped them to water and cut the crops.

Food in the village is very plain people love to eat at home and there are no Domino’s or McDonald here. Then food delivery and taxi services also don’t work here because of the low population I think.

I lose a lot of weight because of not eating any junk food.

There are many closed houses here, people build them and left because of their work.

Although lots of thing are good here but too many people eat tobbaco here and also many families always fight because of the property. It may also happend even in the city but because of the crowd I never notice it too much.

If I got enough work opportunities here I will never stay anywhere else but I have to leave to earn.

Although life is good here in the village there is good food, fresh air, friendly people, lots of places, and too much peace. This is the type of place where I love to spend my retirement.
